The Hero Nappy that started it all.
The OG Baby BeeHinds Nappy - Fitted Nappies are quite different to most other reusable nappy styles you see, BUT they are one of the best kept secrets for parents struggling with leaking nappies. Lets deep dive into how this style of cloth nappy works.
What is a Fitted Nappy?
A Fitted Nappy System is a two part system – your “Inner” is the absorbent fabric layers designed to absorb & you have a “Outer” aka Nappy Cover which is the waterproof layer that keeps clothes dry. So you need two components in this system.
The Inner (aka Bamboo or Hemp Fitted)
So this part of the system does the heavy soaking. The entire fabric nappy is absorbent – front, back, waist, sides – every where. Unlike a pocket/insert style nappy like most brands where only the INSERT layers are absorbent – in a Fitted Nappy EVERYTHING is absorbent, which means you get SUPERIOR ABSORBENCY (sometimes triple what normal pocket/insert nappies have).
The Outer (aka Nappy Cover)
So your Nappy Cover (PUL or Wool) is what goes over the top of your “inner” to keep clothes/bedding dry. Usually PUL Covers for day time and Wool Covers for night but either or works.
So, Inner + Outer = Fitted Nappy System
Inner Options = Bamboo Fitted or Hemp Fitted
Outer Options = Nappy Cover or Wool Cover
What makes this our Hero Nappy?
Simple. Superior Absorbency + Products that last for YEARS.
1. Superior Absorbency
You get up to 13 layers of absorbency in the Fitted Nappies depending on how you fold the inserts. The only thing that beats a Fitted Nappy is our Night Nappy (also classed as a Fitted Nappy, but designed for night time with up to 23 layers)
2. Adaptable Sizing.
For smaller babies, you adjust the sizing by simply folding the front of the “Inner” down to expose the hidden snaps. (check out this video)
3. A Nappy that lasts for Years (literally).
Our Fitted Nappies are indestructible. We have customers that are still using their original fitted nappies 8 years after their first baby and have used them on 4 or 5 babies. Eventually (8 years+) the fabric will disintegrate beyond use, but find me another nappy that will last that long?
Do I choose Bamboo or Hemp Fitted Nappy?
Why Bamboo?
Stays softer than Hemp
90% natural fabric (60% bamboo, 30% organic cotton, 10% polyester)
This is our No 1 Best Seller – but only because people are more familiar with Bamboo as a fabric.
Why Hemp? (My personal fav)
100% natural fabric (55% hemp, 45% organic cotton)
Faster drying
Hemp is the most sustainable fabric – quickest & cheapest to grow & process with the least amount of chemicals.
Antibacterial, Less prone to smells, Bullet proof for acidic wee.
Apart from the fabric, these fit & function the exact same way.
Isn’t A Fitted Nappy System more expensive?
Well – yes because you have the Inners & Outers but don’t worry, we have combined them into a Full Time Bundle to give you some huge savings & really make it a cost effective system. OR you can grab bulk discounts in each product – the more you buy, the more you save!
For Full Time Use – you need at least 24 Inners & 10 Waterproof Covers (Outers), which is our Fitted Nappy Bundle. With a 30% discount built in, you can spend just $683 and have ALL the nappies you will ever need for your baby (let alone the cost savings if you have more babies!). As bub gets bigger you will need to upsize your Nappy Covers but they are super cheap (and specials always pop up). The only other things for consideration to use would be Reusable Nappy Liners (these wick wetness away from the skin ad keep bub feeling dry – and help for poo removal) and highly recommend SOFT Detergent to keep your Fitted Nappies feeling soft.
Hot tips for getting the most out of your Fitted Nappies.
Want to bump up absorbency for nights? Then add extra boosters to the OUTSIDE of the nappy & underneath the cover. Keeps the fit of the nappy perfect, and reduces bulk inside. Choose Wool Cover for nights is the best option.
Leg Frills … Tuck the leg frills inside the nappy for the ultimate leg seal. Nothing will escape these layers with a cover over the top.
Keep fabric soft by using SOFT Detergent or fluff them up in the dryer on low temp over winter.
