What are the different types of Baby BeeHinds cloth nappies?
Baby BeeHinds offers four main styles to suit different lifestyles:
All-In-One (AIO): The closest to a disposable; no assembly required.
All-In-Two (AI2): A waterproof shell with snap-in inserts, allowing you to reuse the shell if it’s not soiled.
Fitted Nappies: The entire nappy is absorbent (great for heavy wetters) and requires a separate waterproof cover.
Night Nappies: Specifically engineered with up to 23 layers of bamboo and organic cotton to last 10–12 hours. Requires Wool or PUL Cover to keep clothes dry.
How many nappies do I need to start?
For full-time use, we recommend a “nappy stash” of 20 to 24 nappies. This allows for a washing cycle every 2 days plus drying time. For newborns, use 8–10 nappies per day and older babies around 6-8 including nights.
How do I wash and care for cloth nappies?
To ensure longevity and hygiene, follow this simple routine:
Step 1. Dry Pail: Place soiled nappies in a ventilated basket (no soaking required).
Step 2 Pre-Wash: A short 30-45 minute cycle (40–60°C) with half-detergent to remove the bulk of waste.
Step 3. Main Wash: A long heavy-duty cycle (40–60°C) with full detergent.
Step 4. Dry: Line dry (best for the environment) or tumble dry on low.
How do I handle poopy nappies when I'm out and about?
Managing cloth nappies on the go is easy with a high-quality Wet Bag. The Details: If a change happens while you’re out, simply dispose of any solids in a public toilet or wrap inside nappy until you get home and place the nappy inside a waterproof, smell-proof Travel Wet Bag. These bags feature dual-zippered compartments to keep clean and dirty items separate. Once you get home, just unzip the bag, dispose any solids and tip the nappies into your laundry pail.
Is cleaning poo off cloth nappies gross? (and what to actually do)
Dealing with poo in cloth nappies is much simpler than most parents realise. If your baby is exclusively breastfed, their waste is water-soluble and goes straight into the washing machine—no rinsing required.
Once baby starts solids, you simply ‘plop’ firm waste into the toilet. For stickier messes, using a Nappy Sprayer or Nappy Liners makes the process hands-free and mess-free. In short: you never have to touch it, and it’s often cleaner than handling smelly disposable nappy bins!”
Do I have to rinse newborn (breastfed) poo?
No, you do not need to rinse or scrape nappies if your baby is exclusively breastfed. The Details: Breastfed waste is 100% water-soluble. This means it will completely dissolve and wash away in your machine during a standard the prewash cycle, then is deeply washed in the main cycle. You can simply place the soiled nappy directly into your Dry Pail until wash day. Note: If your baby is formula-fed, the waste is slightly thicker; we recommend a quick rinse or ‘sluice’ before pailing or use nappy liners.
Do cloth nappies make the washing machine unhygienic?
No. When you follow a 2-stage wash routine, your machine stays perfectly hygienic for the rest of your family’s laundry.
The Details: * Step 1 (Pre-Wash): A short 30–60 minute cycle with detergent removes 95% of waste and spins the “dirty” water away.
Step 2 (Main Wash): Your nappies are then washed in a long, heavy-duty cycle with fresh water and detergent. Because the waste is removed in the first stage, your machine is not “soaking” in bacteria. We recommend a monthly Machine Maintenance Cycle (hot wash with a drum cleaner) to keep your machine in top condition.

Magic waterproof wool
I bought these to go over the hemp nappy and the night nappy. I initially hadn't used enough lanolin to waterproof and was ever so slightly damp on the pjs after the first use. I re read the instructions and followed them exactly with great success. I use these over the bight nappy and the hemp nappy with fully leak proof nights now. I prefer these over the PUL covers as my baby is more comfortable and sleeps more soundly in my experience. My 8kg baby is in a medium over the night nappy and hemp one size fits all.

Finally purchased these after constant leaks with other night nappies just not absorbing enough. Got an XL for my almost 1.5 year old - still need some additional layers but they work amazing - no more middle of the night nappy & linen changes!!
The wool covers are taking me a little to get used to but I definitely prefer having the natural fibres over the plastic covers. Especially given my little wears them all night.

We had issues with disposable nappies leaking overnight and moisture wicking when they weren’t leaking. Sizing up in the disposables only went so far. Got the leaking nappies kit and have not had any leaking or moisture wicking since! Very happy with how adjustable they are and easy to clean! Highly recommend. Hoping they come out with some cute patterns next!
